Turner Sports will introduce a new MLB on TBS studio show this postseason, to be anchored by five-time Sports Emmy Award-winning host Ernie Johnson when it debuts with the American League Division Series on Monday, Oct. 5. Johnson will be joined by the newest member of the Turner Sports team, Curtis Granderson, a 16-year MLB veteran and three-time All-Star, along with Hall of Famer and three-time Cy Young Award winner Pedro Martinez and World Series Champion and NL MVP Jimmy Rollins.

In a multi-faceted role, Granderson will primarily serve as an analyst for MLB on TBS’s postseason studio coverage while also making creative contributions for projects on Bleacher Report. Granderson previously was a guest analyst for TBS’ studio coverage for the 2019 National League Championship Series.

“Curtis was a dynamic player throughout his career and, in a very short amount of time, has demonstrated similar versatility in his ability to connect with fans across a variety of platforms,” said Tara August, Senior Vice President of Talent Services and Special Projects, Turner Sports. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Turner Sports family and look forward to partnering with him to deliver unique content and experiences that resonate with our fans.”

Johnson returns as host of MLB on TBS studio coverage, a role he previously held from 2007-09. He’s provided play-by-play commentary for regular season and MLB Postseason games for the last 10 years. Johnson celebrated 30 years with Turner Sports this past year. He is the long-time host of the iconic Inside the NBA studio show, which was recently named the inaugural winner of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s Transformative Media Award.

“Our new MLB deal and season-long Tuesday night franchise present us with an opportunity to evolve our vision for the MLB studio show,” said Craig Barry, Chief Content Officer, Turner Sports. “This collection of studio talent will allow us to combine expert analysis with storytelling that is dynamic, informative and entertaining for our viewers.”

More About Granderson

Granderson was the recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award in 2016 and he is a four-time winner of the Marvin Miller Man of the Year, presented to the player whose on-field performance and contributions to his community inspire others to higher levels of achievement.

As a three-time MLB All-Star and 16-year MLB veteran, Granderson spent the first six seasons of his career with the Detroit Tigers (2004-09), batting .272/.344/.484 in 674 games, before joining the Yankees (2010-13), Mets (2014-17), Dodgers (2017), Blue Jays (2018), Brewers (2018) and Marlins (2019). Granderson’s teams won three league pennants and he won a Silver Slugger Award and finished fourth place in AL MVP voting in 2011.
