Discovery Channel August Programming Highlights

This August, the All-New Series “Truck Dynasty” Premieres Alongside New Seasons of “Deadliest Catch,” “Contraband: Seized at the Border,” “Bering Sea Gold,” “Mysteries of the Abandoned,” “Ghost Adventures: House Calls,” and “Expedition X,” the Latest Special “Extreme Detailing,” and Additional Episodes of “Red Bull Soapbox Race” only on Discovery Channel 

Week of July 27, 2025 

Friday, August 1 

  • “Deadliest Catch” New Season Debuts on Discovery Channel – 8pm ET/PT 
    • When fishermen discover monster red king crab in the far west, a gold rush-style race ignites among the Dutch Harbor fleet. To claim their share of the billion-dollar bounty, captains and crews must brave unforgiving 50-foot seas to reach abandoned Adak Island, venturing farther west than anyone has dared in over 30 years and beyond the bounds of rescue. Navigating through unfamiliar territory to secure the lucrative haul, the crews face extreme conditions and major ship malfunctions that put them in serious life-threatening situations, leaving the fleet at the mercy of the tumultuous western Bering Sea.

Monday, August 4 

  • “Contraband: Seized at the Border” New Season Debuts on Discovery Channel – 9pm ET/PT 
    • The U.S. borders are some of the most heavily travelled international crossings in the world, with hundreds of thousands of people entering from both Canada and Mexico. While the majority of the travelers are on the up-and-up, it's the nefarious 1% that Customs and Border Protection officers are looking for. From hard narcotics and pharmaceuticals destined for the black market, to money laundering and weapons smuggling, there is no "normal" day at the office for CPB. Series firsts are created when a rookie officer makes one of the biggest narcotics busts the Detroit port of entry has ever seen, meanwhile, in Eagle Pass a strung-out woman arrives in an oil worker's truck where officers find signs of crystal meth crusted on the surface of the truck’s spare fuel tank, and later when a man crosses into the U.S. hiding over $70,000 dollars' worth of diamonds and jewels, officers suspect he's involved in money laundering for cartels.

  • “Extreme Detailing” New Special Debuts on Discovery Channel – 9pm ET/PT 

    • Master detailer Larry Kosilla turns a clean-freak obsession into a superpower, inventing mind-blowing cleaning techniques to transform forgotten barn finds & discarded daily drivers into jaw-dropping, high-dollar machines -- one gleaming detail at a time. 

       

  • “Red Bull Soapbox Race” New Episodes Debut on Discovery Channel – 10pm ET/PT 
    • High-octane races filled with outrageous obstacles unfold when Discovery Channel and Red Bull join forces for the all-new series. Hosted by NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. and motorsports announcer Mike Bagley, the series features amateur teams as they design and build one-of-a-kind, gravity-powered soapbox racers that compete – and crash – on intricate, downhill courses.

  • “Bering Sea Gold” New Season Debuts on Discovery Channel – 9pm ET/PT 
    • In the uncharted depths of the Bering Sea, Alaskan miners use all-new technology and techniques to chase gold where no one's gone before. But challenging ground, rising tensions, and Mother Nature's fury threaten their lives -- and their fortunes.

  • “Truck Dynasty” New Season Debuts on Discovery Channel – 9pm ET/PT 
    • Florida's Apocalypse Manufacturing owner Joe Ghattas is a self-made boss in the custom truck industry, known for his bold designs and loyal following that includes hardcore enthusiasts, world-famous rappers, sports superstars, and elite supermodels. Alongside his wife and co-owner Ashley, he designs, fabricates, and sells these outrageous custom creations. No design is too wild for them to build – ranging from an Apocalypse Hellfire with a pull-out mobile kitchen for legendary chef Guy Fieri or an Apocalypse Super Truck with superhero branding for NBA champion Shaquille O'Neal. With the support of his in-laws, who run sales and marketing for the business, Joe is on the brink of breaking through the fiercely competitive marketplace to establish an American auto brand in a category all its own.

  • “Expedition X” New Season Debuts on Discovery Channel – 9pm ET/PT 
    • The boundary between reality and the unknown blurs once again in the all-new season of eerie adventures and chilling encounters return.
