Jamie Friend Named Chief Financial Officer, Turner EMEA

Jamie Friend has been named Chief Financial Officer for Turner Broadcasting System Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) effective from November 1, it was announced today by Giorgio Stock, President Turner Broadcasting System EMEA and Aksel van der Wal, CFO, International.

Promoted from his current role as VP Corporate Strategy & Insights, Friend takes on the role of Turner’s EMEA head of finance for Turner’s diverse and growing portfolio of news, kids and general entertainment brands. These include core brands Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN International, TNT, TruTV and TCM, among others. Based in London, he will report into van der Wal and assist Stock as part of his EMEA Management team.

Aksel van der Wal said: “Jamie’s wealth of industry knowledge, M&A experience and strategic insight make him the perfect fit for this role.  His astute business expertise and innovative thinking are a powerful combination in the fast changing media landscape.”  

Friend’s promotion comes as Turner EMEA continues to broaden its operation, with its Boomerang, TNT and Boing brands all expanding their EMEA footprint this year.

Prior to joining Turner in October 2013, Friend worked at Arqiva where he was Head of Strategy for Digital Platforms.  He also previously held senior strategy and business development roles at a number of companies including The Walt Disney Company.
