Chris Spadaccini Named Chief Marketing Officer, WarnerMedia Entertainment

Los Angeles, June 5, 2019 – Chris Spadaccini, executive vice president, Marketing, HBO, has been named Chief Marketing Officer, WarnerMedia Entertainment, it was announced today by Bob Greenblatt, Chairman, WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-to-Consumer to whom he will report.

In this new role, Spadaccini will be responsible for all marketing aspects of the new division, including HBO (linear networks, HBOGo and HBONow), TBS, TNT, truTV, and all aspects of branding and content marketing for the upcoming WarnerMedia Direct-To-Consumer offering.

Michael Engleman, who for the last four years has served as executive vice president and Chief Marketing Officer, TNT/TBS, will depart the company after a brief transition period to pursue another opportunity.

In making the announcement, Greenblatt said, “I’ve long been impressed with the quality and cutting- edge approach of the HBO marketing group overseen by Chris, and I was happy he was up for taking on our whole portfolio of linear networks and streaming platforms. In an environment where content volume is soaring everywhere, I’m confident that Chris — through his close working relationships with Casey Bloys at HBO and Kevin Reilly at the WarnerMedia networks and direct-to-consumer business — will make all our shows cut through the clutter.” Greenblatt added “I’d like to also thank Michael Engleman for his contribution to the Turner company and wish him well on his new endeavor.”

Prior to the announcement, Spadaccini served as executive vice president, Marketing, for Home Box Office, responsible for overseeing the development of multi-platform brand and program marketing campaigns for HBO and Cinemax, as well as product marketing initiatives for all digital platforms, such as HBO NOW, HBO GO and HBO.com. He was named to this position in October 2016.

In 2015, Spadaccini led the marketing strategy for the launch of HBO NOW, HBO’s new standalone streaming service. Through his leadership, HBO has developed a strong team with internal capabilities to drive the growth of the OTT business, including user acquisition and customer lifecycle marketing across paid, earned and owned media channels.

Spadaccini began his career at HBO in January 1999 in the Program Advertising area where he held a number of positions, including manager, then director, Program Advertising, before being promoted to vice president, Programming Advertising, in June 2006. In this capacity, he was responsible for the

development of national advertising and promotion campaigns for HBO original series, sports, comedy, late-night and events programming.

During his tenure at HBO, Spadaccini has overseen some of the network’s most high-profile and innovative marketing campaigns, from Game of Thrones to Entourage to The Sopranos.

Prior to HBO, Spadaccini worked at VH1, from June 1997 to December 1998, where he assisted in the development of consumer/trade marketing campaigns to support the network’s brand image and core programming. He began his career at PMK/HBH in March 1996, where he helped develop national publicity campaigns for high profile celebrities and corporate clients in entertainment.

Spadaccini is currently a member of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM); the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS); and One Club, a non-profit organization that promotes excellence in advertising and design.

He holds a BA in English Literature from Colgate University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
