TBS to be Exclusive Home of American League Division Series presented by Utz Snacks – Yankees/Rays & Astros/Athletics – Starting Monday, Oct. 5, at 3:30 p.m. ET
Network’s ALDS & ALCS Coverage to Include First-Ever Use of Base Cameras, Plus Amplified Audio via Field Microphones
New MLB on TBS Studio Team of Ernie Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Jimmy Rollins and Curtis Granderson to Debut with ALDS Round
TBS will provide exclusive coverage of the American League Division Series presented by Utz Snacks (ALDS), beginning Monday, Oct. 5, at 3:30 p.m. ET, with the best-of-five series extending up to five straight days – Monday, Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 9.
AL East division rivals will meet when the Tampa Bay Rays, with a starting rotation including Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow and Charlie Morton face the New York Yankees, with ace Gerrit Cole, slugger Aaron Judge and AL batting champion DJ LeMahieu, for Game 1 of the series, Monday, Oct. 5, at 8 p.m. The series, played at Petco Park in San Diego, will be called by Brian Anderson with analyst Ron Darling and reporter Lauren Shehadi.
TBS’s ALDS game coverage will begin with the Houston Astros and sluggers Carlos Correa and Alex Bregman vs. the Oakland Athletics and young stars Matt Olson and Ramon Laureano, with Game 1 held Monday, Oct. 5, at 4 p.m. Don Orsillo will call the series, taking place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, with analyst Jeff Francoeur and reporter Matt Winer.
For the first time, TBS’s ALDS and ALCS coverage will include footage from base cameras embedded in the first, second and third base bags. Each base will have a camera pointed at both the previous and next base, which will allow the network to bring never-before-seen angles and access to fans. Additionally, enhanced in-game, on-field audio will be provided from a fleet of field microphones – two in front of home plate, two in front of the mound and one around each base.
The network’s studio coverage throughout the ALDS and ALCS will feature a new team anchored by five-time Sports Emmy Award-winning host Ernie Johnson with Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez, former N.L. MVP Jimmy Rollins and three-time All-Star Curtis Granderson offering pregame and postgame analysis from Atlanta via The Postseason Pre-game on TBS presented by Rocket Mortgage and The Postseason Show on TBS presented by Hyundai.
Following the ALDS, TBS will be the exclusive home of the American League Championship Series presented by GEICO (ALCS) beginning Sunday, Oct. 11, with Anderson, Darling, Francoeur and Shehadi on the call from San Diego.
Live streaming coverage of all MLB Postseason games airing on TBS will be available via http://www.tbs.com and the Watch TBS App. Fans will be able to access the games whenever and wherever they desire by logging in with the username and password provided by their TV service provider. Additionally, all MLB on TBS Postseason game telecasts will be available in Spanish via SAP.
