Stephen Root is an American actor best known for the memorable characters he has played across film, television, theater and animation. Root's upcoming work includes the HBO series, Perry Mason. Recent credits include the fourth season of The Man in the High Castle, Bombshell, Four Good Days and Seberg. He has also received an Emmy® nomination for his work on the second season of HBO's Barry.

While most recognized for portraying “Milton” in the cult favorite Office Space, Root has an extensive list of film credits including the Academy Award®-nominated film Selma, J. Edgar, The Lone Ranger and No Country for Old Men, along with animation films Rango, Ice Age and Finding Nemo. On television, Root first became known for playing the eccentric boss “Jimmy James” on NBC's NewsRadio and for voicing the character of the befuddled “Bill Dauterive” for 13 seasons on Fox's King of the Hill. He has appeared on award-winning shows such as Boardwalk Empire, The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Wife, Fargo, Justified and The Newsroom.

Root currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two dogs.
