Bleacher Report

As part of today’s Turner Upfront event in New York, renowned soccer broadcaster Kate Abdo is being announced as a studio host for Turner and Bleacher Report’s UEFA Champions League coverage, beginning with the upcoming 2018-19 season.  Abdo will be the primary host for UEFA Champions League studio shows originating from Turner Studios in Atlanta, with studio coverage airing across Turner’s television networks (TBS, TNT and/or truTV).

Abdo brings a wealth of experience across the international stage, having previously covered soccer’s top events including UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, FIFA Men’s and Women’s World Cup, the English Premier League, England’s FA Cup, Germany’s Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga and Italy’s Coppa Italia, among others. She has also twice hosted the FIFA Ballon d’Or Awards.

“I’m over the moon to be joining Turner,” said Abdo. “Champions League is the most prestigious club competition in the world, it’s an honor to be hosting one-of-a-kind studio coverage for Turner and Bleacher Report.”

The popular, accomplished broadcaster currently serves as a studio host for Fox Sports’ soccer programming including the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Her prior television experience also includes serving as a studio host for Sky Sports News in Germany and the UK. Abdo returns to Turner after covering multiple soccer events for CNN between 2009 and 2011, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Born in England, Abdo is also fluent in French, Spanish and German.

Starting in August, Turner will be the exclusive media partner in the United States for English-language coverage of two of the most popular sporting events in the world and the most prestigious club competition in European football. Live matches will be regularly available across Turner’s television networks and its new B/R Live premium sports streaming platform.
