NHL on TNT to Begin 2025-26 Season Coverage with Star-Studded Opening Week Doubleheader — Wednesday, Oct. 8
NHL on TNT Opening Night, presented by Vanda Pharmaceuticals 90-Minute Pregame Show to Begin at 6 p.m. ET On-Site in Las Vegas, with Wayne Gretzky, Henrik Lundqvist, Paul Bissonnette, Anson Carter & Liam McHugh
All-Time Leading Goal Scorer Alexander Ovechkin & Washington Capitals Host David Pastrňák & Boston Bruins at 7:30 p.m.
Mitch Marner, Jack Eichel & Vegas Golden Knights Battle Captain Anže Kopitar, Quinton Byfield & Los Angeles Kings at 10 p.m.
TNT Sports will enter its fifth season of live NHL on TNT coverage on Wednesday, Oct. 8 starting with a matchup of veteran superstars as the League’s all-time goal scorer Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals host four-time NHL All-Star David Pastrňák and the Boston Bruins at 7:30 p.m. ET. Brendan Burke will call the action, with commentary from Darren Pang and Tarik El-Bashir.
Later at 10 p.m., Mitch Marner, Jack Eichel and the 2023 Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights host Anže Kopitar, Quinton Byfield and the Los Angeles Kings. Kenny Albert will provide play-by-play for the game, with commentary from Eddie Olczyk, Brian Boucher and Aly Lozoff.
The night’s coverage will begin at 6 p.m. with a 90-minute NHL on TNT Face Off Presented by Verizon pregame show live from Las Vegas, hosted by Liam McHugh, joined by analysts Wayne Gretzky, Calder Cup winner Paul Bissonnette, 10-year NHL veteran Anson Carter and Hockey Hall of Famer Henrik Lundqvist. The NHL on TNT studio team will also provide analysis and insights between periods during the Vanda Pharmaceuticals First Intermission Report and the Discover Second Intermission Report.

The NHL on TNT regular season schedule will feature the biggest stars and rivalries in hockey, with coverage on 13 Tuesday and 21 Wednesday nights throughout the season as well as the annual Thanksgiving Showdown on Black Friday, Nov. 28 – New York Rangers at Boston Bruins at 1 p.m.
TNT will again be the exclusive home of the 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic on January 2, as Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett and Sergei Bobrovsky and the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers host Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad and the New York Rangers.
The 2025-26 season will culminate with NHL on TNT’s presentation of the Stanley Cup Playoffs – including First Round, Second Round and Conference Final coverage.
