Turner Classic Movies Becomes the Home of the Iconic Looney Tunes Library
February Launch Includes Bugs Bunny Star-of-the-Month Tribute Featuring 45 Cartoons, with Select TCM Premieres
Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has become the ongoing television home of the iconic Looney Tunes animated shorts, significantly expanding the network’s commitment to preserving and presenting classic animation as an essential part of film history.
Beginning in February, TCM will introduce the Looney Tunes library to its monthly programming lineup, launching with Bugs Bunny as TCM’s Star of the Month for the first time. The celebration features 45 classic Bugs Bunny cartoons airing during a week-long tribute that highlights the character’s enduring legacy, comic brilliance, and influence on generations of filmmakers and animators.
“TCM is excited to become the ongoing television home of the Looney Tunes library,” said Charlie Tabesh, SVP, Programming and Content Strategy at Turner Classic Movies. “By making TCM an ongoing home for this iconic library, we’re able to present these cartoons with the care and they deserve, alongside the classic films they helped influence.”
The Looney Tunes shorts will continue to be programmed on an ongoing basis across TCM’s schedule beyond February, establishing the network as a consistent destination. Select titles will air as TCM Premieres, further underscoring the significance of the library’s arrival on the network.
Featuring beloved characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Wile E. Coyote and more, the Looney Tunes library represents one of the most influential bodies of work in animation history. Through this ongoing presentation, TCM ensures these cartoons are celebrated, contextualized, and accessible to audiences of all ages.
TCM’s February programming will also include a curated selection of feature films that complement the animated shorts, offering viewers broader cinematic context and reinforcing TCM’s tradition of thoughtful, historically grounded programming.
