DISCOVERY CHANNEL RANKS #1 IN CABLE AMONG MEN ON WEDNESDAYS WITH EXPEDITION UNKNOWN FRANCHISE

Network Claims Five of the Top 10 Unscripted Cable Series with Men in July

(New York, NY) – August 10, 2023 – Discovery Channel owned the key viewership demo of Men 25-54 on Wednesday nights, bolstered by two series, Expedition Unknown and Expedition X, with global adventurer Josh Gates.

 

Expedition Unknown, which follows Gates as he investigates and solves the world’s most intriguing mysteries, was the #1 unscripted cable series among Men 25-54 on Wednesday nights at 9pm ET/PT, averaging a 0.70 L3 rating across the demo. Airing through July 12, the eight-episode season was the highest-rated in three years, increasing 14% over the prior season and securing the second consecutive year of viewership growth.

 

Discovery continued its strong Wednesday night performance with the premiere of Expedition X, the Gates-led paranormal adventure series, on August 2 at 9pm ET/PT. The telecast ranked as the #1 non-sports cable program among Men 25-54 and garnered a 0.62 L3 with the demo, an increase of 3% from last season’s premiere and up 24% from the overall season average.

 

In July, Discovery owned five of the top 10 unscripted cable series among Men 25-54, more than any other network, with Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing (#1), Naked and Afraid Castaways (#3), Expedition Unknown (#4), Deadliest Catch (#7) and Gold Rush: Freddy & Juan’s Mine Rescue (#9).
