Plagued by relentless sexual thoughts, 24-year-old Marnie flees her tiny, tightknit Scottish hometown for a chance at a new start in London, where everything’s possible under the guise of anonymity. On her first night out in the big city, Marnie’s determined to have her first lesbian encounter, but keeps getting distracted by her X-rated anxieties.

Marnie’s first Sex Addicts Anonymous meeting is a swing and a miss, but she finds an unexpected kindred spirit in Charlie, a recovering addict who sets out to help her. Following Charlie’s advice to make amends, Marnie shows up unannounced at Amber’s workplace and walks away with a fortuitous internship opportunity.

Following her self-diagnosis, Marnie decides it’s time to take advantage of being a single Londoner. But after spending the night with the clingy, bearded barista who works in the coffee shop below her office, things at work get...complicated. On his one-year sober anniversary, Charlie takes a big leap of faith to get his old life back.

After a productive therapy session, Marnie’s determined to remain celibate, but her efforts are soon derailed by a visit to a newly single and injured Joe, who muses about a date while high on painkillers. Charlie tries to put on his game face for an important work dinner, while Amber’s interview with a big name takes an unconventional turn.

Helen, Marnie’s friend from home, visits just in time to attend Marnie’s first dinner party – but what starts out as a fun collision of Marnie’s two worlds quickly spirals out of control when a drunk Helen divulges a major secret. Amber loses her cool as she waits for a call, and Charlie attempts to navigate an indecent proposal from his boss.

A disheartening admission from her therapist finds Marnie falling into familiar self-destructive patterns at Amber’s birthday party. As she tries to tune her thoughts out, Marnie’s relationship with Joe gets sidetracked, while Charlie, who’s just received a poor performance review, steps in to help her find her way. Meanwhile, Shereen stands up for herself.
