S1:E1 “Episode 1” – Written by Russell T Davies; Directed by Peter Hoar

September 1981. 18-year-old Ritchie leaves behind his restrictive, small-town life to embrace his dreams and sexuality in London. Meanwhile, strong-willed Roscoe flees his homophobic, ultra-religious family, and doe-eyed Colin finds an unlikely mentor at work. As the boys look ahead to a promising future and move in to a flat they christen the “Pink Palace” with friends Ash and Jill, news of a mysterious virus begins to spread.

 

S1:E2 “Episode 2” – Written by Russell T Davies; Directed by Peter Hoar

1983. Ritchie and Jill pursue an elaborate scheme to become professional actors, while Colin embarks on an exciting trip to New York. When an old friend asks Jill for a favor, she finds herself enveloped in the escalating enigma and fear surrounding AIDS, and sets out to learn more. Meanwhile, Roscoe learns of major changes within his family. 

 

S1:E3 “Episode 3” – Written by Russell T Davies; Directed by Peter Hoar

It’s 1986, and the Pink Palace flatmates are beginning to find their place in the world. Ritchie’s auditioning and falling in love, Jill’s cast in the chorus of a successful musical, Colin gets more responsibility at work, and a taste of the finer things expands Roscoe’s prospects. But when the terror they’ve been avoiding strikes at the heart of the gang, the friends have to fight like never before. 

 

S1:E4 “Episode 4” – Written by Russell T Davies; Directed by Peter Hoar

1988. As the virus continues to claim lives all around them, Ritchie and Jill look ahead to the future, making plans to buy the Pink Palace. On a lonely trip home, Ritchie is forced to confront certain truths. Back in London, Roscoe makes a splash at an event with the prime minister, and Jill’s protest against the government’s handling of AIDS turns into a dangerous scene. 

 

S1:E5 “Episode 5” – Written by Russell T Davies; Directed by Peter Hoar

1991. Despite worsening conditions, the friends lean on one another to remain positive and rally through the darkest of days. After Ritchie finally tells his parents the truth, Jill takes on his headstrong mother, Valerie. Later, Roscoe is stunned by his father’s plea for forgiveness.
